Delivery Driver Arrested After Firing Gun During Dispute

Lysander, NY — Early this morning, around 3 a.m., police arrested 28-year-old Gilberto Castro of Kentucky after a roadside incident in the Town of Lysander.
Castro was making deliveries in a white box truck when his vehicle experienced a mechanical issue. Two mechanics were dispatched to assist him, but during the process, Castro reportedly told them their services were no longer needed. When the mechanics requested payment for their time, Castro allegedly refused to pay and retrieved a handgun from his backpack and fired a single round into the air.
The victims immediately called 911, and responding officers were able to apprehend Castro without further incident. He was arrested and charged with:
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon
  • Criminal Use of a Firearm
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Menacing (misdemeanor)
Castro is currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center, awaiting arraignment.
