On June 1, 2025, around 11:00 am, in the Town of Clay, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting an attempted robbery with a firearm at the Heritage Park Townhouses off Wetzel Road. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim, who noted that a male suspect had attempted to rob him of his phone and vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect fled the scene on foot after failing to steal the victim’s property.
A description of the suspect was provided, and a coordinated search of the area was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police. Deputies and troopers located the suspect, identified as Gabron Polk, 18, of Syracuse, in a wooded area behind Wetzel Road Elementary School. Polk was taken into custody about 30 minutes after the initial 911 call without incident.
A 9mm “ghost gun” was recovered in Polk’s possession at the time of his arrest. He was transported to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Headquarters for processing and charged with the following offenses:

Attempted Robbery in the First Degree (PL 160.15 Sub 2, Class B Felony) – Forcible theft with a deadly weapon.

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (PL 265.03 Sub 1B, Class C Felony) – Possession of a loaded firearm.

Criminal Use of a Firearm in the Second Degree (PL 265.08 Sub 2, Class C Felony) – Display of a weapon during a felony.

Criminal Possession of a Firearm (PL 265.01-B Sub 00, Class E Felony).

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (PL 265.01 Sub 9A, Class A Misdemeanor) – Possession of a “ghost gun.”
Gabron Polk is currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
