Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested by Onondaga County Sheriff’s Detectives

Last evening, May 20, 2025, detectives from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44-year-old Larry Freeman Jr. of Syracuse, NY, in connection with the attempted murder of George Bradt, 66, of 407 Drexler Street in the Town of Salina.
Freeman has been charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, Assault with Intent to Cause Serious Injury, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and at the time of Mr. Freeman Jr. arrest he had current warrants out of the city for Robbery and failure to register as a sex offender.
The investigation revealed that Freeman Jr., who was acquainted with the victim, visited Mr. Bradt’s residence, where he allegedly stole one of Bradt’s firearms and used it to shoot him twice before fleeing the scene. Mr. Bradt remains hospitalized at Upstate Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Sheriff’s detectives quickly developed leads and located Freeman in the City of Syracuse. He was taken into custody around 6:00 p.m. without incident and is currently held at the Onondaga County Justice Center awaiting arraignment.
