Internal Affairs: This unit is responsible for upholding the specialized standards of the Sheriff’s Office by counseling, directing and, if necessary, investigating any deputy who does not meet these standards. Their duties include the following:
- Conduct investigations pertaining to allegations of inappropriate conduct on the part of Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office employees
- Provide the fact-finding information for the Sheriff and Undersheriff in such matters
- Act as a liaison between the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office in matters pertaining to alleged criminal conduct of Sheriff’s Office personnel
- Assist the County Law Department in disciplinary proceedings (Article 75 Hearings, PERB Hearings)
