On the evening of April 7th, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a caller reported to 911 that their 2018 Chrysler Pacifica had been stolen from Dollar General’s parking lot in the Village of North Syracuse. Officers from the North Syracuse Police Department responded to the scene and issued a “be on the lookout” alert for the stolen vehicle.
At around 9:00 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling near Wolf Street observed the vehicle matching the description. The deputy attempted a traffic stop by activating emergency lights, but the driver failed to comply. The deputy pursued the suspect, with additional support from other Sheriff’s Deputies and North Syracuse Police.
The pursuit ended when the suspect failed to navigate a turn at Martin Street and crashed into the front porch of a residence on Court Street, causing minor damage. After a brief foot pursuit, deputies and North Syracuse Police officers apprehended the suspect, identified as Sean Hill, 44, of Mattydale.
Mr. Hill was taken into custody by North Syracuse Police. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office secured the scene and charged Hill with multiple traffic violations, Grand Larceny 4th, and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer. The North Syracuse Police Department additionally issued Hill several traffic tickets and charged Hill with DWAI Drugs / Alcohol and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st.
Mr. Hill had several active arrest warrants, and he is currently lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
